About the Business

Here you can find out more about the company behind the service. Caleb Roberts has six offices across Wales & the Border Counties, a business that has grown much over 75 years.

The name Caleb Roberts has been synonymous with Insurance in Powys and the border counties for more than 80 years only changing on Caleb’s retirement in 1975 to Caleb Roberts Insurance Services under the management of Paul Campbell and Ruth Davies. In the early years Caleb served the farming community in many different ways selling for Robert Young and Co, booking on market days for McCartney’s the auctioneers – even working part time as a voluntary ambulance driver and special constable.

It was because of his commitment to and popularity within the local community that he became so successful as an Alliance Insurance agent in the early years.

The business has expanded over the years and now operates from 6 offices in Knighton, Builth Wells, Brecon, Welshpool, Bromyard and Church Stretton and whilst farming and related trades remain at the heart of the company’s business the group deals with all forms of Commercial and Personal Insurance and can provide Independent Financial advise via it’s associated Company Caleb Roberts Financial Management.

Hugh and Charles Campbell, Ivor Williams and Clive Podd (who retired in April 2016) took control of the business after Ruth and Paul retired in 2001 and have the taken the business to new levels of expansion and professional expertise. Shortly after Clive’s retirement, Jeanette Fox was promoted to Director of HR & Compliance in 2016.

Private Car

Some car insurance claims are more clear cut than others, but for those “others”, legal disputes can soon escalate. This is where you’ll see those extras on your car insurance policy, including legal cover and personal injury come into their own.

If you’re unsure as to how in-depth you need to go with your car insurance policy, or which policy is going to offer you the best value for money, the team at Caleb Roberts are here to give you some guidance, or even help secure a policy if you have previous motoring convictions.

Starting with the basics of fully comprehensive, third party only, and third party fire and theft, we can break down additional options you might need, so you have a clearer idea of what you need and what you can do without.

Commercial Vehicle

Commercial Vehicle

A commercial vehicle policy can enable any number of your employees to legally drive your company car or truck. It also keeps your business vehicles within the conditions set out by most insurance providers which differentiate between a commercial and private vehicle policy.

Allowing employees to use your commercial vehicles can take the strain away from relying on one person to drive, and makes for more flexible operations.

Some circumstances can make for a cheaper policy, such as if you’re a long established company. If you’re a new business, our advisers at Caleb Roberts will work hard for an affordable premium, conscious that when you’re just starting out you’re still finding your feet in terms of budget and margins.
